독일의 다국적 미디어그룹 베텔스만(Bertelsmann)에서 독일판 위키피디아를 출판한다. [NYT]. 750,000개의 독일 위키피디아 표제어중에서, 인쇄되어 나오는 위키피디아 백과사전은 25,000개이며 인쇄될 위키피디아는 일반적인 백과사전에서 볼 수 없는 최신 키워드들을 중심으로 편찬한다고 한다. 버틀스만측은 판매되는 백과사전 한권당 1유로를 독일 위키피디아측에 주기로 합의했다고 한다. 독일 위키피디아의 사무총장인 Arne Klempert씨는 이번 역출판(reverse publishing)이 ‘위키피디아 사용자의 집단지성을 이용하려는 시도’이자 “공짜 지식의 힘”을 보여주는 좋은 사례가 될 것이라고 주장했다.
