팀 하트포드의 책 The Logic of Life의 8장(The Rational Revolutions)은 현대 선거에서 유권자들이 경제적으로 얼마나 irrational한 choice를 하는가를 설명하려 하고 있다. 그런데 이 비이성의 실체는 스타트렉의 the most logical creature인 Mr. Spock의 명언(The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few)를 그대로 뒤집으면 된다. 즉 The needs of the few outweigh the needs of the many.
